Individual Therapy
As a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, I have received training in a range of therapeutic approaches. The main approach I use is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) which is an evidence-based therapy, recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) for a wide range of difficulties.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a structured and collaborative approach, where we work together to identify goals meaningful to you. The ‘cognition’ part of CBT refers to our thinking processes and ‘behaviour’ refers to the strategies we use to manage our difficulties, so CBT can be thought of as a ‘talking’ and ‘doing’ therapy. CBT helps us understand how our thoughts and behaviour can sometimes interact in a way that has a negative impact on the way we feel, and to try out alternative ways of responding that can help break the cycles which keep the problem going.
Clinical Supervision
I enjoy working as a supervisor and trainer with NHS clinicians in training, including Clinical Associate Psychologists and CBT Therapists. Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to discuss the possibility of arranging supervision sessions.
